Meter Readings
Meter Readings
Section titled “Meter Readings”Meter readings allow you to track utility consumption for each unit. Use readings to calculate utility charges, monitor usage patterns, and generate accurate bills.
Table features
Section titled “Table features”The meter readings table gives you full control over how you view and manage all meter reading entries.
Filtering
Section titled “Filtering”Filter meter readings using any column with advanced filter options:

| Contains | Field contains the specified text |
| Not contains | Field does NOT contain the specified text |
| Is | Field exactly matches the specified value |
| Is not | Field does NOT match the specified value |
| Is empty | Field has no value |
| Is not empty | Field has a value |
How to filter: Click the filter icon then click Add filter button , select your filter type, and enter the value.
Filter examples:
- Utility contains “Water”
- Reading is greater than 1000
- Status is “Billed”
- Reading date is this month
Column customization
Section titled “Column customization”Click the View Settings button to customize your table:

Pin columns
Section titled “Pin columns”Pin important columns to keep them at the table:
- Click the pin icon on any column
- Pinned column stay fixed while scrolling
- Click the pin icon again to unpin
Refresh button
Section titled “Refresh button”Click the Refresh button to reload the latest meter reading data.

Export
Section titled “Export”Export meter reading data as CSV or Excel:
- Click Export button
- Select format: CSV or Excel
- Choose which columns to export (all or selected)
- Click Download
Record a new meter reading
Section titled “Record a new meter reading”Click the Record reading button to add a new meter reading.
Reading form
Section titled “Reading form”| Field | Required | Description |

| Utility Account | Yes | Select the utility account (Water, Electricity, Gas, etc.) for this reading |
| Reading Value | Yes | Enter the meter reading value (current number displayed on meter) |
| Reading Date | Yes | When was the meter read? Defaults to current date |
| Reading Type | Yes | Type of meter reading (Routine / Estimated / Final / Initial) |
| Notes | No | Optional additional details about this reading |
Utility Account options
Section titled “Utility Account options”| Utility | Description |

| Water - [Unit Number] | Water meter for specific unit |
| Electricity - [Unit Number] | Electricity meter for specific unit |
| Gas - [Unit Number] | Gas meter for specific unit |
| Other - [Unit Number] | Any other metered utility |

Reading Type options
Section titled “Reading Type options”| Type | Description | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| Routine | Regular scheduled reading | Monthly meter reading for billing |
| Audit | Approximate reading | When meter is inaccessible |
| Opening | First reading | Move-in reading for new tenant |
| Closing | Last reading | Move-out reading for departing tenant |
Consumption calculation
Section titled “Consumption calculation”When a reading is recorded, the system automatically calculates consumption based on the previous reading:

Consumption calculation example:
- Previous reading: 12450
- Current reading: 12750
- Consumption: 300 units
- Rate: Ksh 50 per unit
- Live charge: Ksh 15,000.00
For the reading available actions include:
